OakTree Day Nursery is a homely purpose built nursery situated within the Total Fitness leisure complex. We are situated in an ideal environment close to the local hospital and shopping complex but also surrounded by countryside and woodland which can be accessed for walks and activities with parents permission. The children enjoy seasonal walks, collecting leaves and conkers, enjoying the fresh air and learning about their environment, looking for squirrels and rabbits, they have races and picnics in the warmer months. Each outing is risk assessed. During the winter, the children enjoy building snowmen and using the snow as a sensory experience. Our nursery provides daily care for babies aged eight weeks to five years old. Each room is specifically designed and set up for the ages and stages with care taken to make it both homely and stimulating. Our rooms are babies, pre-toddlers, toddlers and preschool. We have an enclosed outdoor area which is fenced and secure. Each room has daily access to the outdoor area twice a day to develop physical skills and well being. Our nursery can cater for up to 60 children per day. We charge for half a day and full day sessions and also cater as a creche facility, offering 1 to 3 hour slots. We fully understand the flexible working hours of parents and carers, in these cases we offer flexible days on booking your child in to nursery we ask for a 2 week notice of booking flexible days.

The director Lynn Hawkins is a qualified Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN) with paediatric experience, gained at a local children's ward. The manager Gemma Kerman has over 10 years experience in working with children and a management qualification. The company is dedicated to ongoing staff development which is achieved by internal and external training. All of our rooms are co-ordinated by qualified and well experienced staff. Each room operates with a qualified supervisor working closely with the manager to cater for each individual childs needs. Each child is assigned a keyperson who will develop and monitor the child's progress individually. All staff have a DBS check completed upon starting at Oaktree day nursery. |

Food At Oak Tree Day Nursery, we believe a healthy meal is an important part of your child's day, all of our daily sessions provide a healthy and balanced meal giving you reassurance that when you leave your child with us they will be given a healthy and nutritious meal. All of our children are provided with the same meal (unless religious or dietary needs have been agreed) and sit down together to enjoy it as a social occasion. This is especially beneficial for the older children in the preschool who are encouraged to serve their own lunch and tidy up after themselves, being supervised along the way. All of our food is prepared on site daily by our experienced cook. Our cook has more than 10 years experience working in Early Years cooking for children and continues to keep up to date with Food and Hygiene requirements and healthy lifestyles. Sample Menu Breakfast: A choice of Cereal Snack: Toast Lunch: Various home cooked meals with a selection of fresh meat and vegetables (a weekly menu is situated outside the kitchen for viewing) Snack: A selection of vegetable sticks, crackers, fruit and milk Afternoon Tea: A range of hot or cold snacks such as sandwiches, teacakes, beans on toast, cakes, fruit and yoghurts Drinks: We provide water or cows milk throughout the day We cater for each individual child’s requirements including allergies, religious beliefs and parent wishes where possible. On starting at our setting, we ask about each individual child’s requirements and with the support of the parents and our experienced cook will strive to deliver these. We regularly update our menu. We provide vegetarian and lactose option daily.
Health and Safety / Security At Oak Tree Day Nursery we believe that the safety of the children in our care is absolutely essential. The nursery is fully air conditioned with separate room control temperature switches. Nothing can be more important than the safety and wellbeing of our children. Oaktree Nursery rooms have been specially designed; for example we provide child level toilets and wash basins and low-level chairs and furniture. Qualified and talented staff that are able to dynamically assess the risk to your child are employed and this is backed up with training and assessment alongside regular fire safety drills and risk assessments. Oak Tree is inspected by the council's Health & Safety Officer and is registered and inspected by OFSTED. The Nursery operates a door entry system with a biometric finger print system as well as password entry for any relatives picking up your child. The building is a purpose-built nursery therefore the welfare of our guests has been designed from the planning stages of the nursery to the completion of the building.
