The Preschool is situated between the baby room and the toddler room and has direct access to the enclosed outdoor area. Again it is fully equipped with air conditioning, for those hot summer days allowing preschool to maintain a pleasant temperature and promote a cosy environment during the snowy wintery days, with individual room heating. We have given careful consideration into organising the preschool room into a stimulating environment, but to also provide a homely and cosy feel for when children need to relax. The room is designed into different learning areas, Mathematics, Literacy, Creative,Small world, Construction,Roleplay and a Messy Area. Children are actively encouraged to explore the areas and make their own choices, develop friendships and respect their environment by helping to tidy. We follow Ofsted Guidelines and the Early years Foundation Stage to provide stimulating and enjoyable activities ,catering for individual interests and developmental needs not forgetting time to relax. We engage in circle times in the pre-school covering learning opportuniites in Number, Phonics, literacy , language and understanding the world with fun interactive activities, learning to respect each others views and developing listening and interaction with others. Our preschoolers love to bring nursery bear for a home sleep over and then discuss with their friends to develop confidence . We complete weekly baking activities and dance sessions which the children look forward to, learning new skills and tasting new foods. We actively encourage creativity and imagination and offer a wide range of messy play with natural and craft resources. We value all childrens work and display this aound the nursery. We take weekly walks to the field and wooded area, enjoying stories, races and exploring the area in different seasons. Children enjoy the open space and are able to take part in more robust and active games developing co ordiantaion and physical skills. A parents notice board offers information on weekly activities, trips and upcoming events to keep you informed but we are always happy to discuss any questions you may have. Parents will be given a fully detailed pack when starting pre-school explaining pre-school routines and how you can help settle your child. We fully appreciate you as your child's primary carer we will strive to work with you and your child's keyperson to offer a smooth transition and develop individual needs throughout their time with us. Pre-school is able to cater for twenty two children with a ratio of one adult to eight chiidren. Our room Supervisor has over twenty years of working within the school and nursery sector working with toddler,pre-school and school aged children. All staff complete regular training including updating First Aid and Safeguarding and have several years of working with children. Each child is given a Keyperson, once they have settled, who will support your child, getting to know them, planning activities to encourage all round development and will be availble to discuss any questions or queries you may have. We hold open evenings where you are welcome to visit and discuss your child's progress . Here at Oaktree we repect and value the interactions with outside agencies and local schools. When transition time arrives we work hard with the feeder schools to make your child's journey a smooth one. We exchange visiting days, teachers will visit Oaktree and we will visit them ,allowing children to become familiar with their new surroundings and key people and new staff will get to know your childs individual needs. A full assessment will be given to your child''s new school and you will have the opportunity to be part of this and give your information and views also. When your child leaves Oaktree for their next part of their journey, you will be given your child's file containing their full Learning journey as a memento of their time spent with us. |
